MICHAEL STEADMAN is an orchestral musician recently relocated to the Washington, D.C. area from San Francisco, California. An active freelancer with over 20 years experience, Michael has performed as guest Principal Harp with orchestras including the Boise Philharmonic and Colorado Springs Philharmonic. Michael has also performed as Principal Harp for the Grace Cathedral holiday concert series for over 10 years, and was honored to perform as Principal Harp for seven seasons with the San Francisco Bay Area Rainbow Symphony, an organization dedicated to promoting and supporting LGBTQ musicians and composers.

Michael received his Bachelor in Music degree from the Eastman School of Music in 1997, where he studied with Kathleen Bride. Other harp teachers include Doug Rioth, Alice Giles, Karen Gottlieb, and Marcia Dickstein.

Michael is a member of the American Harp Society. He owns and performs on a Lyon & Healy Style 30, a striking mid-century modern harp originaly designed in 1958.
